Jenny Francis and her family had not had much to do over the years with her grandfather, who lived in Spain and had a flourishing wine-producing business there. So it came as a great surprise, when her grandfather died, to learn that he had left Jenny a part-ownership in the business. So she went of at once to Andalusia to inspect her inheritance—and was met with varying reactions by her Spanish relatives. Her Uncle Rafael was kind and welcoming; her Aunt Sofia coldly hostile. But her cousin Antonio Francisco’s reaction was decidedly unpredictable—he lost no time in asking Jenny to marry him. Of course such a marriage would suit Antonio—but what about Jenny’s feelings? And what about Maria Gazares, who had expected to marry Antonio herself?
