She needed protection--but could she trust him? Eden Nairn, a widow, had been hiding from her tyrannical grandfather ever since the birth of her son--the only male heir to his estate in the Northumbrian Hills. So when his handsome henchman, Brett Allard, finally tracked her down, she knew he'd be under strict orders to return there with her child. To her surprise, however, Brett had his own ax to grind with her grandfather. "Marry me, Eden," he suggested, "and I'll see the old man doesn't ride roughshod over you." Eden needed some form of protection. But she could never risk marrying again! Especially someone like Brett Allard--just the kind of man she could love.. . . http://ca.pbsstatic.com/xl/78/8078/9780373028078.jpg |

Hadn't he banished her from the family home in Wales because he thought she was trifling with his younger brother? And then, to add insult to injury, hadn't he been quick to believe that ugly rumor about Lallie and another woman's husband? So why did he think she'd agree to become engaged to him, just to help him solve the problem of Stella Prentice? http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...cL._SL500_.jpg http://cd.pbsstatic.com/xl/47/6747/9780263746747.jpg |

Greg's sudden return really shocked Alex It wasn't the surprise of seeing him. It was the realization that after three years of burying memories, of pushing him out of her mind--she hadn't succeeded in getting him out of her heart. She must never let him know. He still wasn't the kind of man she wanted to love. So she wasn't prepared when he said, "You walked out on our marriage--now I think it's time you walked back again." http://photo.goodreads.com/books/127...7l/6730867.jpg |
